Work Package 3
“Escape the Climate Crisis” Coursework

WP3 transforms the needs uncovered in WP2 into a complete, classroom-ready learning guide.

Through a coursework format it delivers theory, hands-on activities and game-based challenges that help teachers move students—and their families—from concerned by-standers to confident climate-crisis problem-solvers.

Main Results

The “Escape the Climate Crisis” Coursework offers a coherent sequence of learning experiences that combine foundational climate-science knowledge with inquiry, action, and game-based problem-solving.

It first explains the human drivers of greenhouse-gas build-up and outlines the environmental and socio-economic impacts projected for coming decades, then guides students through classroom experiments that make phenomena such as the greenhouse effect and ocean acidification tangible.

Learners next examine innovative mitigation and adaptation technologies and design community-oriented initiatives that translate global challenges into local solutions.

Engagement is deepened through a curated collection of climate-focused educational games and narrative case studies that highlight real-world responses to the crisis.

Finally, collaborative escape-room challenges—delivered in both physical classroom formats and interactive missions on the EcoMystery digital platform—require students to apply scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and teamwork to resolve climate-related scenarios.

Aligned with curriculum standards and supported by detailed facilitation guidance, the coursework equips teachers to track understanding and skill development while fostering students’ capacity for informed, responsible action.

Impact

By the end of WP3, classrooms will be equipped not just to teach climate science but to experience it—catalysing the social responsibility and empowerment at the heart of the EcoMystery project.
