Comenius University Bratislava is a modern European university. It is the only Slovak university to be regularly placed in the international rankings of the best universities in the world.

With thirteen faculties, it offers the widest selection of study programmes (currently 731) at three levels, and several of these study programmes are the only ones of their kind offered in Slovakia. There are 13 faculties at the university with a wide range of fields of human knowledge to choose from when studying, be it medicine, education, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, theology, and more.

Moreover, Comenius University is a research institution that runs hundreds of domestic and international research projects. As a result, many of the students engage in important research during their studies and can actively participate in projects, grants, and professional internships (including abroad). This active involvement in research projects at Comenius University not only enhances the students’ academic experience but also provides them with invaluable practical skills and exposure to cutting-edge knowledge in their fields.

Role in the EcoMystery project

As the leader of Work Package 3 it convenes the inaugural curricular-design meeting, delineates the coursework architecture, and authors two flagship modules—“Climate Science Experiments” and “Physical Climate Escape Rooms”—while coordinating the contributions of all other partners. Thereafter, Comenius University Bratislava aggregates, evaluates and, following classroom pilots, refines the entire nine-module “Escape the Climate Crisis” programme, supervising both translation and quality-assurance processes. Within Work Package 2 it prepares the specialist teacher-training module “Design and Utilisation of Physical Escape Rooms” and hosts the transnational Teachers’ Training Workshop in Slovakia, drawing on its recognised expertise in environmental education and game-based learning. The University also assists partner schools during pilot implementation and will organise Slovakia’s national multiplier event under Work Package 5, thereby extending dissemination to local stakeholders and policy-makers
