Work Package 2
Needs Discovery Report &
Teachers Advancement Program
WP2 is the knowledge engine of the EcoMystery project.
Its dual mission is to:
- pinpoint the climate-crisis knowledge, skills and attitudes teachers must cultivate in future citizens, and
- translate those insights into game-based training resources that amplify teachers’ confidence and reach.
Phase 1 – Needs Discovery
Questionnaires and focus groups with teachers, students and stakeholders in Italy, Greece, Slovakia, Romania and Portugal will map
- gaps in climate-change content and competences,
- the current uptake of game-based learning—especially escape rooms, and
- expectations for deeper civic action.
Findings will feed two core deliverables:
- Needs Discovery Report – a clear picture of school and community requirements.
- Policy Recommendations Booklet – guidance for integrating playful, solution-oriented climate education into curricula.
Phase 2 – Teachers Advancement Programme
Building on the survey data, partners will create an open, modular training suite that enables educators to
- explain future climate scenarios and mitigation/adaptation tactics,
- run physical or digital escape-room activities that sharpen collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, and
- turn classrooms into hubs of positive environmental change.
The programme offers ready-to-use lesson plans, facilitation guides and digital tools—resources largely absent from current teacher portfolios.
Key Results
- Needs Discovery Report with actionable insights.
- Policy Recommendations Booklet for decision-makers.
- National Surveys (in English Language)
- Teachers Advancement Programme – hands-on, open-access training materials.
Impact
WP2 will sharpen climate literacy, embed 21st-century skills in everyday teaching, and create a ripple effect as trained educators inspire peers, families and local stakeholders—accelerating society’s progress toward sustainable development.
